Felt like a real break-away, stress-free, as everything was catered for. Just the tonic after a hectic year! We took our grandchildren, so it was important that we had space and plenty to do. They particularly enjoyed the Boating Club nearby. Going to book for next year!

Holmthwaite had a true homely feel that was easy to relax into. We have always loved Coniston, but have never stayed. It was a nice change to be on the doorstep of our favourite family walks.
The Thompson Family
We have a huge energetic family with young children, so we needed a holiday home that ticked all the boxes. Great sized rooms, with beautiful views and a big kitchen for busy meal times. Would definitely bring the clan again.
We love staying in holiday homes with character, which Holmthwaite had in droves without sacrificing mod cons. We are an active family, so being near treks and cycling routes was important. A great central base for adrenaline junkies!
The Brook Family
We recommend this holiday home if you have a large party. We stayed with our walking group friends, as we hadn't tackled The Coniston Old Man, which we thoroughly enjoyed. A perfect base, practical and pretty.

I booked this holiday let for our village book club. There were a few of us but we slotted in nicely due to the size of the place. We loved the local museums and read and discussed the poems of John Ruskin. Loved the views from the rooms and the friendly Coniston folk. The pub grub was excellent, especially the Cumberland sausage. We hope to book next year.
